A nasty beast
Complacency, especially when it's about our own attitude toward customs, traditions, or ideas rooted in the culture we belong to, is a nasty beast.
It leads us to say or do things against our own interests, to the benefit of someone who is often richer and more powerful than we are.
It convinces us to do propaganda for free for those who harm us and profit from it.
One day we'll regret it, inevitably, bitterly, and irreparably.
The most absurd part is that we already know it, but we don't give a damn.
