Are we humans or drivers?
It always amazes me to meet people who oppose any proposal to give pedestrians—that is, human beings—back some of the space usurped by vehicles—that is, artificial machines that kill, poison, deafen, and, like steel bullies, invade disproportionate stretches of land that should belong to nature and the community.
But whose side are they on? Were they born with legs or with wheels?
Even someone who temporarily plays the role of driver goes back to their natural mode the moment they step out of the holy tin can: a two-legged human, which is to say a pedestrian. What sense does it make to cater to the wicked Mr. Hyde when you're destined to live the life of poor Dr. Jekyll anyway?
Maybe they're the same people who prattle on about artificial intelligence, which—unlike brake rotors, leaf springs, and camshafts—most of them know little or nothing about.
